A Brand New Showroom For Cockram MG, Christchurch

We are pleased to share that construction is now underway for a brand new showroom at Cockram MG, the home of MG for Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. This redevelopment marks an exciting milestone for the MG brand locally, with construction beginning in April, and completion expected approximately nine months later.

Over recent years, Cockram Motor Group has invested significantly in upgrading dealership and servicing facilities. With Cockram MG being the latest brand to receive a full showroom redevelopment, this project represents the next step in delivering a modern, welcoming, and customer-focused retail environment.

The new MG showroom has been designed to create a more focused and customer-friendly experience for MG owners in Christchurch. Once complete, it will offer a purpose-built space that reflects MG’s global brand direction while improving comfort, accessibility, and the overall buying experience.

Once complete, the new Cockram MG showroom will represent a next-generation MG facility, designed to support the brand’s growing model range, including hybrid and electric vehicles. The redevelopment reflects MG’s global direction towards smarter, more efficient retail environments and positions Cockram MG as a leading MG dealership in New Zealand.

By investing in a dedicated MG space, we are creating an environment that better supports long-term ownership, after-sales care, and a consistent customer experience for MG drivers in Christchurch.

Business as Usual During Construction

Construction is expected to take approximately nine months. During this time, Cockram MG will continue operating as normal from our shared site with CMG Motors.

To minimise disruption:

• Cockram MG sales and finance teams will temporarily relocate into the CMG Motors showroom

• Our experienced MG team will remain on site and available to assist

• Test drives, enquiries, and vehicle handovers will continue throughout the build

Servicing and after-sales support will also continue as normal. Our service department will remain fully operational during the renovation, with routine servicing, repairs, WOFs, and warranty work unaffected. Customers can continue to book service appointments as usual and expect the same high standard of care.

This approach ensures MG customers in Christchurch and across Canterbury can continue to buy, service, and enjoy their vehicles with confidence while we work towards delivering a new, industry-leading showroom.
